Description

“Financial literacy” refers to the ability to understand how money functions in the world. It is a crucial concept for young people to grasp early on, which is why educational institutions and after-school programs provide specialized programming aimed at equipping youth with essential financial literacy skills for real-world preparedness.

This competitive teambuilding activity donates tools to help children become financially literate AND it helps budding entrepreneurs. Teams compete in a customized version of Monopoly that involves answering business content and financial literacy-themed questions to earn properties with a unique twist: teams are made up of event attendees and local school students! The team that gets the most questions correct wins!

Kiva.org is a non-profit organization that is revolutionizing the fight against global poverty by enabling people to connect with and make personal loans to low-income entrepreneurs in the developing world. Kiva Cards are equal to small loans. Following the Monopoly game, attendees and students receive Kiva Cards to make real loans to real Kiva borrowers, and learn about financial literacy together. The beneficiary school or after-school program receives an additional set of Kiva Cards to use in the classroom as learning tools.

To close our events, a representative from the beneficiary expresses their gratitude and raises awareness on the impact their work has on the community. This establishes a direct connection to the cause and organization your team is supporting.
