As youth spend more time on iPads, iPhones, and other digital devices, their movement is declining and so are the long-term benefits of active play. According to the 2024 US report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth, only 20–28% of youth ages 6–17 meet the recommended 60 minutes of daily activity outlined in the U.S. Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.
The long-term effects of inactivity are significant as research shows that children who don’t develop active habits early are more likely to face challenges with attention, mood regulation, and physical health later in life, including higher risks of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Reduced activity also impacts academic performance, confidence, and emotional well-being.
Recognizing this growing need, Impact 4 Good has teamed up with Alively, a personalized health platform that uses data-driven insights to guide users toward healthier daily actions, to create Fueling Healthy Futures — a dynamic, corporate- and community-driven initiative designed to improve children’s health through better nutrition, fitness, and active living.
The Why: Learning by Doing, Giving by Teaching
Fueling Healthy Futures follows Alively’s See One, Do One, Teach One model — a simple framework that turns learning into lasting behavior:
- See One: Employees start with a quick interactive game and optional wellness intake through Alively to identify their top opportunity for personal health improvement — both as individuals and as a team.
- Do One: Each participant discovers a single Minimum Enjoyable Action — one small, sustainable habit with measurable impact they can start today.
- Teach One: Teams put their learning into practice by assembling personalized activity kits for local kids, writing messages of encouragement that pass their new insights forward.
This three-step process reinforces the truth that the best way to learn is to teach — transforming employee awareness into community empowerment.
“The whole idea behind this program is to give young people more options for an active, better life,” said Andrew McConnell, Founder & CEO, Alively. “Through this collaboration, we’re not only helping employees explore healthier habits in their own lives, but also extending that energy into communities by empowering young people with the tools they need to move more, play more, and thrive.”
Teams participating in Fueling Healthy Futures begin the activity by completing a brief survey on Alively’s wellness platform to learn how to turn small daily actions into living your best life. Using data-driven insights, each group’s collective wellness focus is anonymously ranked and revealed at the end of the activity. Every participant also receives a one-month Alively subscription to continue tracking their progress and building positive habits.
Next, teams compete in an interactive Healthy Habits Trivia Challenge, exploring science-backed tips that show how small daily choices can create lasting positive change. From there, participants assemble personal activity kits for kids, filled with items like jump ropes, chalk, motivational wristbands, and nutrition resources. All kid-friendly items that support active play and make it feel enjoyable, easy, and accessible.
These kits are then donated to local nonprofit partners that serve children who lack access to safe spaces and active play opportunities. A representative from the benefiting nonprofit often joins the event to thank participants and share firsthand how these donations empower their youth to stay active and healthy.
“Impact 4 Good’s community impact initiatives are designed to close need gaps and unite teams around shared purpose,” said Ira Almeas, Founder & President, Impact 4 Good. “Fueling Healthy Futures brings teams together to reflect on their own wellness while providing tools for kids who might not have easy access to movement and play. It’s team building with meaningful impact for communities that need support to build healthier, more active futures.”
Fueling Healthy Futures helps companies inspire wellness within their teams while supporting nonprofit community partners who champion children’s health. Together, we can create environments where every child has the chance to run, play, and thrive.
