Description
Children facing overwhelming experiences, such as their first hospital visit, stay in foster care or other traumatic event, struggle during uncertain times. Blankets provide a sense of security, a way to work through the tears of an emotional moment or handle tough transitions with extra support. Not only does the blanket act as a comfort, but it is a physical keepsake showing that someone cares for them.
The goal of this teambuilding program is to create warmth and comfort for children who need it most, through the gift of new and colorful handmade blankets, with video messages of encouragement.
Our facilitator kicks off the activity by first raising awareness about the organization receiving the donation and the work they do in the community. Individuals get to work assembling their colorful blankets. Affixed to each blanket is a special video message patch allowing participants to record and upload a personal “message of hope and encouragement” for the recipient. Once a child receives their blanket, they view the video and know they have a friend to help them battle through their unsettling times. The result is a meaningful and memorable donation for children who can use some serious cheering up!
This activity is customizable to meet your goals and objectives, as well as logistics. We can implement the “Message in a Blanket” activity in the following ways:
- In-Person, Hybrid or Virtual activity formats
- Philanthropic Donation Only – The base of all our programs; participants will learn about the cause and beneficiary and then get to work on the donation assembly.
- Mental & Physical Challenges – Competitive program/cause themed challenge activities in which teams score points based on performance prior to assembling the donation.
- Trivia Quiz Show – Teams earn donation materials through an interactive trivia game with cause and customizable company related content.
To close our events, we invite a representative from the beneficiary to express their gratitude and raise awareness on the impact their work has on the community. This establishes a direct connection to the cause and organization your team is supporting.
We also offer “Message in a Blanket” Impact Kits for a “do it yourself” activity.
