The foster care system can be a confusing and disheartening place, full of varying obstacles and challenges. It’s difficult to maintain a sense of normalcy in a constantly fluctuating environment. Children often have nothing more than a few trash bags to move all their belongings. In 2019, over 440,000 American children are in foster care, taken away when their families are in crisis and can’t take care of them. 30,000 age out of the system annually, often with no homes to go to once they do. And while the common conception is that foster youth are teenagers, the median age of children in foster care is 6 1/2 years old.
 
Our Hopeful Homes 4 Kids program aims to comfort those who need it in the local foster care community via an exciting and meaningful set of thematic challenge activities. Through the power of teamwork, your goal is to pack and decorate duffel bags for foster youth, each containing essentials and basic needs for children in a difficult transitional period.
 
Following the challenge activities, teams receive a duffle bag, along with other items like hygiene kits, activity books, and a stuffed animal: all of which provide comfort to children in this transitional period. Having the support and the knowledge that there are people looking out for their physical and emotional well-being is a precious memory that can be given to these youths. The event culminates with a representative from the beneficiary organization joining your team onsite and thanking them for their hard work and dedication to the community.
