Putting for a Purpose

Unlike some other community problems, hunger and food insecurity is invisible. Hunger transcends all economic and social levels becoming a GLOBAL issue, where one billion people around the world will go to sleep hungry tonight. The child sitting next to your child at school may not be getting enough to eat, and nobody would know. Or their parents may feed them dinner and go without a meal themselves at the end of the month when money runs short. One out of every six children goes to sleep wondering if they will have enough to eat the next day and millions of families rely on their neighborhood food pantry or homeless shelter for basic food needs. Unfortunately, many of these organizations cannot keep up with the demand.

Our “Putting for a Purpose” program’s goal is to support local food pantries via a large canned/boxed food donation along with messages of encouragement for the food bank to distribute with the food items. 

Teams build miniature “putt-putt” golf holes out of canned and boxed food items, integrating a theme as well. Following the building process, the hole-in-one competition begins! Teams play all holes on their golf course in a timed challenge. While scores are tallied, teams pack up food items into boxes and write messages of encouragement for the ultimate recipients of the food donation. 

To close our events, we invite a representative from the beneficiary organization to express their gratitude and raise awareness on the impact their work has on the community. This establishes a direct connection to the cause and organization your team is supporting.
