Beads to Beat Cancer

More than 1.2 million Americans develop cancer each year, which translates to a cancer diagnosis every 30 seconds. Cancer cuts through boundaries of gender, race, nationality, and income, we can make a difference in the local community by supporting those fighting cancer. Fortunately, there have been great advances in cancer research, detection and treatment that has led to the ability of many people to win their battles with cancer, and the number of survivors is increasing.
 
Also fortunate are the number of organizations sprouting up in all communities that are there to support those impacted by cancer. In our “Beads to Beat Cancer” program, participants have the opportunity to make a beaded bracelet and support a local cancer care organization within the community where your event takes place. Your bracelet donations, along with a message of encouragement, go to patients receiving care, at a time when they need it most.
 
If desired, your participants can make one bracelet to donate and another to take home to either wear themselves or share with a friend or family member touched by cancer. The event culminates with a representative from the local cancer care organization addressing the group to say thanks and raise awareness.
